Cape Town Spurs coach Ernst Middendorp has his sights set on 15th position on the DStv Premiership table to earn a play-off spot and avoid automatic relegation.
The Urban Warriors are currently on a three match winless run in the DStv Premiership following their recent 1-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns at Athlone Stadium.
Spurs currently sit at the bottom of the league standings with 12 points after 23 matches, having won six, drawn four and conceded 10 defeats so far this season.
However, Middendorp is now targeting 15th position as they prepare for their upcoming fixture against Sekhukhune United in the DStv Premiership on Saturday.
“I believe a game against Sundowns is not the best to reduce the distance to position 15th but we have an away game and two home games,” Middendorp told his club’s official website.
“We will believe and go into the next game. Hopefully we can get something out of it.
“Give me a reason that why should a team with so many changes and in addition to the average age [of the players], why should a team all of a sudden run through the league?.
“We had a good start, we had a good moment. Probably certain teams didn’t take us serious. But I’ve said it before, we will win two or three games in a row and we will lose two or three games in a row.”
