Cape Town Spurs coach Ernst Middendorp believes his side played “competitively, successful and good football” but it was “painful” to accept their relegation from the DStv Premiership.
Spurs are scheduled to play Kaizer Chiefs in their final DStv Premiership fixture for the season when the two sides meet at the DHL Stadium on Saturday.
The Urban Warriors come into this game looking to bounce back after playing out to a 1-1 draw against Golden Arrow when Ryan Moon cancelled out Therlo Moosa’s opener at the Mpumalanga Stadium last Saturday.
Middendorp says his sides have to come to terms with their performance this campaign despite the work they put in during pre-season and throughout the 2023-24 season.
“It was interesting. If you look for a masterclass of influencing a result or a soccer game you have seen it,” Middendorp told his club’s official website.
“I can’t even describe what the feeling is. You see, you play competitively, you play successful, you play good football and we’re relegated.
“Individually from what I’ve seen and as a collective, it’s painful.”
