Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has asked the club’s supporters to be a little bit patient with Lesiba Nku, the same way Jose Mourinho asked the Real Madrid fans to be patient with Luca Modric.
The Brazilians extended their unbeaten run to 50 games following their 1-0 victory over Royal AM at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Saturday evening.
Nku made his 14th appearance in the DStv Premiership when he came off the bench to replace Thembinkosi Lorch in the 78th minute to finish out the game in Pretoria.
Mokwena has called for the Sundowns fans to show some patience when it comes to Lesiba Nku after impressing when he came off the bench.
“Three, four games in a row, it’s something we’ve been speaking about and it was actually started by (Siyabonga) Mabena because Mabena was the only one who could impact the game from the bench and then it became a topic to say ‘Guys, if the young one can do it what more?’,” Mokwena told SuperSport TV after the game.
“And now Lesiba Nku in two games in a row has done exceptionally well (off the bench). You know there was a moment when Jose Mourinho was coaching Real Madrid and he asked the Madrid fans to be patient with Luka Modric.
“Luka Modric went on to become probably one of the best players in the history of Real Madrid and I’m going to do something very similar.
“I’m gonna ask the Sundowns supporters to be a little bit patient with Lesiba Nku. He is very special. He just needs time. If he adapts and takes…They must be a little bit patient, they will see why we signed him.”
