Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has given an update on Lucas Ribeiro Costa after the Brazilian midfielder was substituted due to an injury in their Caf Champions League clash against Bumamuru.

The Brazilians booked their place in the group stages of the continental competition after claiming a 2-0 victory with a comfortable 6-0 aggregate win over the two-legged fixture.

However, Ribeiro only lasted 10 minutes on the field before being substituted and subsequently replaced by Thapelo Morena.

Mokwena has since downplayed the severity of Ribeiro’s injury and is hoping the Brazilian will be fir in time for their upcoming fixture against Orlando Pirates in the final of the MTN8.

“Not yet, he’s under assessment and we’ll see,” Mokwena told his club’s official website.

“But I don’t think it’s that serious.”
