Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena explained how his new signings were able to quickly settle in and adapt at the club after Tashreeq Matthews scored his first goal for the Brazilians.
Matthews scored his first goal for Sundowns after coming on as a second-half substitute in their 2-0 win over Chippa United in the DStv Premiership.
The 23-year-old has since made three appearances for the Brazilians since joining the club from Swedish outfit IK Sirius during the January transfer window.
The Cape Town-born attacker was one of four players signed in January to further bolster Sundowns’ star-studded squad, including Matías Esquivel, Thembinkosi Lorch, and Zuko Mdunyelwa.
Mokwena feels that the new additions to his squad have adapted quickly and settled in nicely to life at Sundowns.
“Good people, very good human beings, as I said, they were there for me, they are there for each other and they were unhappy with each other’s contribution in the first-half,” Mokwena told SuperSport TV after the game.
“So it makes the coaching job so much easier, because when they demand and they hold each other accountable.
“It’s a lot easier to demand a little bit more from them, so congratulations to them, very proud.”
