Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena admits he still feels like he disappointed the club, despite leading the Brazilians to the 2023–24 DStv Premiership title.
The Brazilians have now won seven consecutive league titles following their 5-1 hammering of Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium on Thursday evening.
Sundowns cruised to victory through a brace by Tashreeq Matthews and goals from Matías Esquivel, Lucas Ribeiro Costa and Thembinkosi Lorch, while Mduduzi Shabalala scored a consolation goal for Amakhosi.
Mokwena has shied away from taking credit for the team’s performance so far this season, despite pushing and guiding the team to always give it their all on the pitch.
“The leaders when it’s good they stand at the back, when it’s bad they take the bullets and I’m still reeling, because I feel I still disappointed the club but I have to take it as a leader and keep going and try to push them,” Mokwena told SuperSport TV after the game.
‘
“To get this team to achieve what they deserve and I’ll always try my best, I’m at service.”
