Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena says he keeps demanding more from his players but also more from himself.

The Brazilians secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Royal AM thanks to goals from Peter Shalulile and Lesiba Nku at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Sundowns have now extended their unbeaten run to 51 matches in the DStv Premiership, having already won the league title.

Mokwena believes his side can push themselves even further but was “very proud” of his players exploits against Thwihli Thwahla.

“Congratulations to the club, everybody, the management, the supporters, it’s great to see them happy, congratulations to the technical team, a lot of hard work behind the scenes and also congratulations to this group of players, another amazing performance. A lot of effort, a lot of intensity and I’m very happy with their performance today,” Mokwena told SuperSport TV after the game.

“I just keep demanding more but I demand more from myself, first I have to demand more from myself and then I have to set an example. When I give more, it means everybody else has no excuse not to give more and that’s what they are doing.

“They deserve a lot of praise and credit for that, I’m extremely proud of this group of players, what they are doing this season is incredible and it’s not just the ones we see on the pitch, it’s not just the ones you see on the bench. It’s the ones who are also at home watching, because when we train, we train not for the eleven but we train for the entire team.

“And so the intensity is good, the players that are at home are just as much an important part of this team, as the ones that you see every single day sometimes and we rotate and we give chances to people. So very proud of the players and very proud of their effort and I’m a very proud coach,” he concluded.
