Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena says his side are working to improve every day as they prepare for a “difficult” DStv Premiership encounter against Sekhukhune United on Saturday afternoon.
The Brazilians continued to make history by extending their record win number of wins to 13 matches following their 2-1 victory over TS Galaxy on Tuesday evening.
Rushine De Reuck opened the scoring for Sundowns as early as the 11th minute before Peter Shalulile doubled their lead just after the restart, while Galaxy managed to score a stoppage time consolation goal after Djakaridja Traore slotted home a late penalty.
The victory takes Sundowns 19 points clear at the top of the league standings with 49 points from 19 matches.
The Tshwane giants will now shift their focus on their upcoming fixture against Sekhukhune United when the two sides meet at Loftus Versfeld Stadium as Sundowns look for a record extending 14th straight win.
“[They are a] tough team that plays with inverted full backs, [they] play very similar to how Truter’s Swallows team plays [but] of course with different players and different individual qualities [that] makes it a little bit more different,” Mokwena told his club’s official website
“[They have] some very good players in the team, they’ve got experienced players in the team, it’s going to be a difficult game.
“Now it’s recovery [time] and trying to get back to Joburg. Lots of fluids and rest for the players, and then we will do our analysis of this game and pick up the things we will need to pick up to improve and then we will do oppositional analysis after that.
“But then step by step, one day at a time and continue to work with a lot of calmness and our feet on the ground.”
