Sundowns had to come from a goal down to secure a 1-1 draw against the Rockets after Peter Shalulile scored a late equaliser to cancel out Puso Dithejane’s 78th minute opener on Tuesday.
The Brazilians have now maintained their unbeaten streak and extended their run to 53 matches following the stalemate at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.

Mokwena has since praised his side for showing their “fighting spirit” and having the right mentality to see the game through.
“It’s the worst game of football I’ve ever been involved in, from a lot of aspects but at the same time I’ve got to congratulate this group of players, they were unbelievable, they just refuse to lose,” Mokwena said on SuperSport.
“So proud of the Sundowns players, proud of the Sundowns family, we fought very hard, I’m very proud of them.”
“(Aubrey) Modiba doing so well, we lost it a little bit, you could see we were struggling for legs but we needed the right mentality and the mentality came right at the end you know, so I’m very proud of them, proud of the mentality and the effort of the players.
“I’m proud of the boys for their fighting spirit, they were incredible, very proud of them.”
