Zungu came on in the 76th minute to replace Bathusi Aubaas his time on the field did not last long after he was fouled by Orebotse Mongae, who subsequently received a red card for his challenge on the Sundowns player.

However, Mokwena felt that his counterpart Ramovic reminded his players about how Parker sustained a broken leg due to a tackle from Zungu during their Carling Knockout Cup encounter in October last year.

“I’m disappointed with the tackle on Bongani Zungu because I was told already last night that the coach of the opposition (Sead Ramovic) showed that tackle Bongani Zungu made on Bernard Parker and showed it to the players,” Mokwena told SuperSport TV after the game.

“And said, ‘Don’t forget what Bongani Zungu did’ and I’m very disappointed because you know these things happen and I can say once again to you, I know for a fact Zungu tackle can happen in any other game, anywhere.

“I’ve seen worse tackles. We’ve got even Nasir still out injured but we’ve forgiven and moved on because it’s a contact sport and now we go and we intentionally injure players and we send out these things. It’s a bit disappointing from a professional level,” he said.

“But anyway we do the talking on the pitch and the players said to me, ‘Coach, We’ve seen we’ve seen what has been going on in the media, don’t worry we’ll sort it out on the pitch’ and I’m very proud of them and I wanna thank them also.”
