Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has reflected on winning the DStv Premiership Coach of the Season emphasising how the accolade is a result of a joint effort from everyone at Mamelodi Sundowns.
Mokwena led the Brazilians to a 13th DStv Premiership title and a record sixth consecutive league title.
The 36-year-old coach also walked away with back to back Coach of the Month awards on two occasions for December/January and February/March, respectively.
Mokwena says all their success this season is a result of the hard work of the technical team and the players for their dedication throughout the season.
“Congratulations to the football club because this is an award that you receive as a custodian and a person that represents the team from a leadership perspective,” Mokwena told his club’s official website.
“But it’s not possible without the commitment and hard work from everyone that is involved, so it’s a team award because it was from collective efforts.”
Sundowns were also the big winner at the 2023 PSL awards after they walked away with seven awards at the annual ceremony.
“Congratulations to Ronwen Williams, Teboho Mokoena, Cassius Mailula, Khuliso Mudau, and Peter Shalulile, the awards are well deserved,” he added.
“We are fortunate that we have an incredible, special, and hard-working group of players that commit themselves and are very honest to give more and try new things.”
