Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rhulani Mokwena insists that their ‘shoeshine and piano’ style of play is back at the club.
The Brazilians are known for their flowing football and their ruthlessness on the pitch which has made them a formidable opponent over the past few years.
Sundowns have showcased their dominance throughout the season and are currently on a nine game winning run in the DStv Premiership following their 2-0 victory over Richards Bay this past weekend.
Mokwena’s side currently have a 10 point lead at the top of the table with 37 points from 15 matches and the Sundowns mentor has revealed that their dominance is due to bring back their “Shoe Shine and Piano” style of play which was created many years again club the club’s legends.
“It’s the culture of the club, I think the DNA of the club is ‘Shoe Shine and Piano.” Mokwena told his club’s official website
“It’s a style that was created many years ago by many legends. It’s about the quality of the players, you cannot speak about how well we played without speaking about the quality of our players.”
Sundowns will be looking to claim their 10th straight win in the league when they face Chippa United at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Tuesday evening.
