Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena admits that his side forgot what it was like to “battle for points” following their 1-1 draw against Stellenbosch FC on Sunday.

The Brazilians’ 15 game winning run in the DStv Premiership came to an end after they were held by Stellies at the Danie Craven Stadium on Sunday.

Sundowns opened the scoring through Cassius Mailula in the 77th minute but Iqraam Rayners levelled the game in the 87th minute to earn his side a point.

Mokwena admits that his side got used to winning every game that they forgot what it was like to fight to gain maximum points.

“We want to win every match, but it is not possible,” said Mokwena after their 15 game winning run came to an end.

“Conceding a late equaliser will actually do us a lot of good. The team had become so used to winning in the Premiership that we had forgotten what it is like to battle for a point.”
