Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena heaped praise on goalkeeper Ronwen Williams for his consistency after keeping his ninth cleans sheet of the season.

The 30-year-old shot stopper put in another impressive performance for Sundowns and managed to keep a clean sheet in their 2-0 victory over Swallows FC at Loftus Stadium on Tuesday.

Williams has now managed to keep nine clean sheets and only conceded five goals in 13 appearances in the DStv Premiership so far this season.

Mokwena went on to praise the Sundowns’ goalkeeping department for the levels they have shown this season after Williams kept a record seventh consecutive clean sheet.

“[Ronwen] has been very consistent, but they say a good boxer needs a good sparring partner, and he happens to have exceptional goalkeepers around him [Denis Onyango, Kennedy Mweene, Reyaad Pieterse & Jody Feburary] are exceptional, and they are led by a good human being Wendell Robinson – so its not only about ‘Ronza’.

“Tactically he’s at a very good level and his communication is very important to us.”
