Amazulu midfielder Ben Motshwari has opened up about his fitness and ambitions after joining the Durban-based outfit.
The 32-year-old made the move to Usuthu after parting ways with Orlando Pirates where he spent five years with the Soweto giants.
The midfielder is yet to make his debut for the club and was an unused substitute in their draw against Polokwane City on Monday.
Motshwari has revealed that he put in an extra shift in order to get fully fit while also touching on his ambitions with the club.
“Moving from one province to the other – from one club to the other, it’s always going to be difficult,” Motshwari told his club’s official website.
“[However], I got a pretty warm welcome here and I feel at home here. It’s like I have been here for a long time.
“I am trying to do some extra work because it has been a long time since I played a [competitive] match and I was also out with an injury,” he explained.
“I am doing some extra work at training because I want to be at the same level as the other guys who are playing in terms of fitness.”
He added: “As many people know, our president is very ambitious, there is a certain direction in which he wants the club to be heading.
“Once we had that discussion about me moving to Durban, I was impressed by the ambitions for the club.
“For me as a competitive player, I saw it fitting that I should come to AmaZulu and fight to achieve whatever he wants for the club because that’s what I also want.”
