Kaizer Chiefs new signing Edson Castillo says he wants to make his mark at the club by following in the footsteps of Jose Torrealba and Leandro Perez in representing the iconic Gold & Black jersey.

The 29-year-old joined Amakhosi after penning a two-year contract with the option to extend his stay for a further year.

The attacking midfielder brings a wealth of experience having previously played for Mineros, Neftchi Baku, Academia Puerto Cabello, Monagas, Zacatepec and Caracas.

Over the course of his career, Castillo has contributed to 29 goals including 22 goals and seven assists in 225 appearances across all competitions.

The Venezuelan international has also represented his national team six times and scored one goal since making his debut in June 2021.

“The biggest Club in South Africa and one of the biggest on the continent”.

“I am very happy for the opportunity and I am also very excited about coming to such a big Club.

“I had opportunities to go to other clubs but when I heard about the interest from such a big club I had no doubts about coming here, and seeing this welcome, I am very happy and believe I have made the right decision. I want to win trophies and have a successful time here.

“Like the Venezuelan players who have been here before, I want to make my mark while I am with the team.”
