Orlando Pirates have announced the appointment of former Young African SC strength and conditioning coach Helmy Gueldich as their new conditioning coach.

Gueldich was on the books at the Tanzanian giants last season after doing his part to help the club secure a treble.

Pirates have since captured his services as they have a busy fixture schedule this season as they are in five different tournaments.

His appoints has come at the right time and his main focus will be to reduce the amount of injuries within the squad with several players already on the sidelines due to injury.

“Orlando Pirates is pleased to announce the appointment of Helmi Gueldich as Conditioning Coach,” the club stated.

“Gueldich brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise having recently worked as the Strength and Conditioning (S&C) coach for Tanzanian League Champions, Yanga FC.

“Notably, Gueldich is not only a seasoned professional but also a former player, holding a Ph.D. in Exercise Science. His wealth of knowledge and background will be a valuable asset to the team.

“This appointment couldn’t come at a more crucial time, as the Buccaneers are gearing up to compete in five challenging competitions this season. The demanding schedule makes it imperative that the players remain consistently available for selection.

“Helmi Gueldich will be collaborating closely with Michel Bellver, forming a dynamic partnership that is poised to elevate Jose Riveiro’s technical team to new heights.”
