Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro says it was “a massive three points” for them following their 1-0 victory over TS Galaxy at the Orlando Stadium this past weekend.
The Buccaneers secured back to back victories in the DStv Premiership thanks to a 25th minute winner by Deon Hotto against the Rockets in Johannesburg.
The win takes Pirates up to fifth place on the log with 22 points after 13 games while Galaxy are placed 13th on the table with 15 points from 13 matches.
Riveiro admits the game was not easy but was delighted to see his side walk away with maximum points on home soil.
“A massive three points for us, two victories in a row here at home,” Riveiro told SuperSport.
“It’s always difficult, we have a tactical game in the beginning, we didn’t start well one more time. We concede two, three clear chances to the opponent.
“The game could change too early and fortunately for us Melusi and the defenders did a good job in the last actions.
“And little by little we start to get control, scoring a goal in a free kick, a beautiful one. And enough to get the three points, same story and usually in the second half, more spaces to run. The opponent is open, we have chances, we have good chances in transitions as well.
“We didn’t manage to double the lead and there’s always moments that you are a bit of afraid of the result.
“But I don’t think that we did suffer too much tonight, at least after 10 minutes.”
