Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro was delighted that his side ended their three game winless run and return to winning ways in the DStv Premiership.
The Buccaneers walked away with all three points after they claimed a 3-1 victory over Golden Arrows after Monnapule Saleng, Terrence Dzvukamanja and Vincent Pule cancelled out Velemseni Ndwandwe’s 68th minute equaliser at the Orlando Stadium.
Despite the victory, Pirates remain in fifth place on the table with 22 points from 16 matches so far this season.
Arrows find themselves in 12th position on the log – level with 19 points with TS Galaxy in 11th place.
“This is gonna kill us, very complicated game, we didn’t start the way we wanted, we found the reason why, we managed I think Arrows played a bit (high), the beginning of the game, after 20-25 minutes, I got the feeling we got much control also with the goal,” Riverio told SuperSport TV.
“In the beginning, they were pressing us high, very aggressive, they couldn’t capitalise that moment for them, we got the advantage, the most difficult. After the half time we started very well, I remember one action we were close to scoring just after the break.
“But then the game becomes difficult, we were not well organised in both phases, we had some problems with individuals who couldn’t continue and the performance drop.
“But difficult circumstances today and I have to give a lot of credit to my players, they are still trusting until the end, we had several chances in the second half and the last 10 minutes was something crazy and we were lucky today in the last metres finally to take one of those loose balls and put them in the net and we got three points that are going to be important for us.”
