Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has praised the impact of substitutes Monnapule Saleng and Karim Kimvuidi in their victory over AmaZulu.
The Buccaneers secured back to back wins in the DStv Premiership following their 1-0 win over Usuthu thanks to a goal from Tshegofatso Mabasa at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
The win saw Pirates climb up to second place in the DStv Premiership standings, level on 40 points with third placed Stellenbosch FC.
Riveiro has praised the likes of Saleng and Kimvuidi for their performances to help his side secure maximum points at home.
“In these circumstances against the low block, we had to be calm, we were rushing a little bit,” Riveiro told SuperSport TV after the game.
“But I think Saleng, Karim, they gave us a little bit more threat in one v ones, second line running, things you need to beat the low block.
“I think the presence of Saleng, Thalente (Mbatha) looking for the first pass forward when we steal the ball, they were quite aggressive in attack and they left some spaces in transitions and that for me was the key in the last 25-30 minutes.
“So well done to the guys, those who started and those who finished, we’re a team.”
