Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro was pleased with his side’s performance to come back from a goal down to secure maximum points against Cape Town City in the DStv Premiership.

The Buccaneers extended their winning run in the league to five matches following their 2-1 victory over the Citizens when Terrence Dzvukamanja and Monnapule Saleng cancelled out Kanyisa Mayo’s opening goal at the Orlando Stadium this past weekend.

Pirates now find themselves sitting in third place in the DStv Premiership standings with 46 points after 26 matches played so far this season.

Riverio praised his side’s fighting spirit to come back and secure maximum points but felt like his side should not have conceded against the Cape Town outfit.

“We shouldn’t have gone behind, we played a very good first half from my point of view, perhaps a 2-0 [lead] in the first half,” Riveiro told the media.

“They got the advantage so we have to appreciate the fact that we managed to come back and change the result here at Orlando Stadium.

I”t was an excellent performance from the beginning until the end, with players coming from the bench having an important role one more time.

“This was a good game, a good level for both teams with different ambitions, and different plans but played a quality game. I am so happy with the three points obviously.”
