Stellenbosch FC has confirmed that midfielder Nhlanhla Mgaga will part ways with the club when his contract expires on June 30.
The 28-year-old joined the Maroons on a free transfer from Baroka FC in June 2022.
The attacking midfielder has since made 63 appearances across all competitions, while scoring one goal and registering five assists during his stint at the club.
Mgaga was ever-present in the Stellies squad and played a crucial role in helping them clinch the Carling Knockout Cup as well as finishing third in the DStv Premiership, which earned them their spot in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup.
The South African midfielder will become a free agent when his contract expires and will be free to join a team of his choosing.
Stellenbosch FC have since released the following statement on the matter, which reads:
Stellenbosch Football Club can confirm that Nhlanhla Mgaga will part ways with the Club at the end of the season upon the expiration of his contract.
Mgaga joined Stellenbosch from Baroka FC in June 2022 and made 63 appearances across all competitions during his time in the Cape Winelands, scoring once and recording five assists.
He also played a valuable role during a record-breaking 2023/24 season to help Stellenbosch FC win the Carling Knockout trophy and qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time.
Everyone at the Club would like to thank him for his service and wish him well in his future endeavours.
