Stellenbosch FC have officially announced the departure of midfielder Darrel Matsheke.
The 25-year-old joined Stellies as a free agent in October 2023 after he parted ways with Kaizer Chiefs.
Matsheke made a total of 12 appearances across all competitions while scoring one goal and assisting another while playing a key role in helping Stellies win the Carling Knockout Cup.
However, Matsheke only spent five months at the club after he was under investigation at the club for the breach of code of conduct.
Stellenbosch have since released the following statement, which reads as follows:
Stellenbosch Football Club has parted ways with Darrel Matsheke by mutual agreement after the player transgressed the club’s internal code of conduct.
Matsheke arrived in the Cape Winelands at the start of the current season and made 12 appearances across all competitions, notably scoring the winning penalty kick during the club’s 2023 Carling Knockout victory.
We would like to thank him for his contributions over the last five months and wish him well in his future endeavours.
