SuperSport United have continued to bolster their squad after capturing the services of Bafana Bafana defender Siyanda Xulu.

The 31-year-old joins the club from Azerbaijani outfit Turan-Tovuz IK after putting pen to paper on a two-year contract with an option to extend.

Xulu brings a wealth of experience having previously played for Mamelodi Sundowns, Rostov, Kaizer Chiefs, Maritzburg United, Hapoel Tel Aviv and most recently Turan-T IK.

The defender has also been a regular feature in the Bafana Bafana team under Hugo Broos and has over 25 caps under his belt and will be part of the national team squad when they participate in the 34th edition of the African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast next year.

The Bafana Bafana defender has since his excitement at starting his new journey with Matsatsantsa.

“I am feeling very grateful. It’s another opportunity to play at home, which is something that I needed now,” Xulu said.

“When you get to this age, the one thing you need the most is stability. SuperSport United gave me what I needed at the right time. I’m very excited for the new journey, It’s not only about me, but also all about the team.

“The reason why I joined this marvellous club is because I saw a team that was headed to the right direction. I am still new here; I need the other guys to help me get organized just so we can get to business.”
