Golden Arrows goalkeeper Ismail Watenga says depriving Mamelodi Sundowns space was key to his side earning a point against the DStv Premiership champions.
The Uganda goalkeeper played a starring role as Abafana Bes’thende held Sundowns to a goalless draw at the Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale.
The draw sees Abafana Bes’thende sit in 10th place in the DStv Premiership standings with 34 points from 27 matches.
Watenga, who was named Man of the Match, praised his side for keeping their cool and remaining “commitmented and focused” through the match.
“We showed commitment and focus,” Watenga said after the game.
“Depriving Sundowns of space was critical to our plan and we succeeded.”
