Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Hendrick Ekstein has revealed that he is focusing on a sealing move overseas over a potential move to Orlando Pirates.
Ekstein saw his contract terminated by mutual consent at Chiefs before sealing a move to Azerbaijan side Sabah FC.
The midfielder though left the club in in December last year and is now a free agent in search of a new club.
According to KickOff.com a reliable source close to the player has said that the likes of Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City have reignited their interest in the playmaker, but the 29-year-old is favouring a move abroad.
‘At the moment my focus is to play overseas,’ Ekstein told KickOff.com.
‘Not to say Pirates is a bad team, no, Pirates is a good team. Or any team. I can play in fact at any team whether it’s Highlands, AmaZulu… whatever.
‘I think to play overseas the way I see it is you grow as a player, and I see football in a different way. You are exposed to a different style of play. You learn more, and you become a better player.
‘I want to go back overseas you see. Since I was a young boy I’ve been dreaming of playing overseas. Ja, any time from now I might leave.
‘Which country I’m not sure because my agent hasn’t told me anything yet except that options are there. It’s just for him to finalise things,’ he concluded.
The former Chiefs man impressed in his short time in the Azerbaijan league last year as he amassed four assists and also scored three goals in 16 appearances.
