Cape Town City coach Jan Olde Riekerink is doubtful about fielding striker Kermit Erasmus for their upcoming Absa Premiership clash with Chippa United on Saturday.
The Bafana Bafana striker was forced off the field in the 17th minute during City’s goalless draw with Highlands Park this past weekend.
The 29-year-old is currently the Citizens’ top-scorer and tied in second place for the Absa Premiership Golden Boot, after finding the back of the net eight times from 14 appearances across all competitions.
Olde Riekerink has since confirmed that Erasmus was nursing a hamstring injury before their trip to Black Leopards, but is yet to determine whether or not to field him on Saturday as he is still recovering.
‘He already had a hamstring injury in the last game, he had it before. I hope [he will be available for Chippa], but I have my doubts,’ Riekerink told the media after the game.
Cape Town City will now welcome Chippa United to the Athlone Stadium in the Absa Premiership on Saturday, with kick-off set for 6pm.
