Bafana Bafana striker Kermit Erasmus has sent a heartfelt message to former Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy, following the termination of his contract.

The 41-year-old coach has parted ways with City after spending only two seasons with the club during which he won the MTN8 trophy last season.

McCarthy also guided the Citizens to a top-eight finish in the Absa Premiership and reached two MTN8 finals during his tenure at the club.

However, City have since appointed assistant coach Vasili Manousakis as caretaker coach as they prepare to announce the next chapter and new head coach.
‘Thank you for everything you have done for me to help me improve and be better every day,’ Erasmus said.
‘I loved playing under you as my coach and I will miss you a lot. I hope I will get the opportunity again. You will always be someone I look up to.’
