Ajax Cape Town coach Muhsin Ertugral says he’s hoping the Kaizer Chiefs supporters will come out in numbers for their final Absa Premiership clash at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.
The Urban Warriors will take on Amakhosi in their must-win encounter in the hope of avoiding the playoff with duo Black Leopards and Jomo Cosmos.
Ajax currently occupy 15th place in the league standings with 31 points, having won just eight games from 29 matches played so far this season.
The former Chiefs coach has urged the Amakhosi faithful to come out in numbers to pack the stadium, which he believes won’t give them an advantage over the home side.
‘I’m not scared about this at all. In fact, I encourage it,’ Ertugral told the media.
‘Chiefs fans must come out in their numbers because I’ve been coach of Chiefs twice before and I know the pressure they put on their own team. I know the pressure that the players will feel.
‘It is often that [Chiefs players] make one or two mistakes and suddenly they have the crowd on top of them and then it is not easy for them to play. There are a lot of elements that can disturb a club and the crowd is one of them.
‘So I would like to fill the stands with a lot of Chiefs supporters. I think it will work in our favour,’ he concluded.
Ajax Cape Town against Kaizer Chiefs kicks off at 3pm.
