Daniel Akpeyi is focused on reaching his objectives and not prioritising a move abroad despite his big ambitions, says his agent, Mohammed Lawal.
The Nigerian’s representative has been vocal about his client’s future in recent weeks by revealing that Akpeyi would love to play abroad one day.
His comments were then backed up by former Super Eagles and Lille goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama.
Speaking to SoccerLaduma, Lawal thanked Enyeama for the comments while also touching on Akpeyi’s future.
‘Vincent Enyeama is a well-respected goalkeeper in Africa. He has done well for himself. He has been playing in Europe for a while. He did well in Israel and moved to Lille in France.
‘Vincent is one of the few players who succeeded in the French Ligue 1. I think he was the first goalkeeper in the French League to have about 11 consecutive clean sheets. Daniel spent time with him in the national team, before his retirement and obviously he looks up to him.
‘It’s wonderful that he made the comments he made in the interview about him. For a well-respected goalkeeper like him to come out and say those words about Daniel is great. Daniel is very ambitious. He is working very hard and I think it is a dream for every African player to play in Europe. But that’s not Daniel’s priority right now. He is focused at Kaizer Chiefs and is looking forward to helping Kaizer Chiefs to achieve their objectives,’ he concluded.
