Former Orlando Pirates and Free State Stars left-back Thabo Matlaba has completed a move to fellow Absa Premiership side Black Leopards.
The 31-year-old put pen to paper on a two-year contract with Lidoda Duvha with the option of extending his stay for a further year after he was released by the Buccaneers.
Matlaba has since become the Leopards’ third signing behind Thuso Phala and Mogakolodi Ngele as they continue to bolster their squad ahead of the 2019-20 season.
Matlaba joins Black Leopards, having already made their intentions clear for the coming season by signing Phala and Ngele.
Leopards chairman David Thidiela confirmed that the veteran defender has signed for the club and will begin pre-season training with the squad on Tuesday.
‘Matlaba has just signed with us. He is set to start training with the team tomorrow,’ Thidiela said.
Over the course of his career, Matlaba has found the back of the net 16 times and has assisted a further 21 from 230 appearances in all competitions playing for the likes of Free State Stars and Orlando Pirates.
Meanwhile, the club also confirmed the signing of Ghanian midfielder Abubaker Mumuni, who returns to the club for a second spell after he left Leopards to join Ea Lla Koto a few years ago.
‘Abubakar is returning back home. He left with our blessings and hence we happy to see him back into the club,’ Thidiela added.
