Orlando Pirates striker Lyle Foster is set to join French Ligue 1 giants Monaco in January, but remains focused on his duties with Pirates and Amajita.
The striker, who is currently playing for the South African U20’s in the U20 Cosafa Cup, underwent a successful trial at the French club and looks set to complete a move to Monaco on a five-year deal.
The opportunity will see the 18-year-old link up with former Arsenal legend Thierry Henry at the Stade Louis II and provide Foster with the chance to learn from one of the greats.
Despite this big journey ahead of him, Foster insists that he is only focused on his current club, Orlando Pirates and Amajita.
‘I am still an Orlando Pirates player, but it’s God’s will and I just have to follow it,’ said Foster when speaking to the media following South Africa’s 5-0 thrashing of Mauritius in their opener at the U20 Cosafa Cup.
‘I think anyone would look forward to work with him [Henry]. He was a top striker and now he is a top coach, so I can’t wait to learn from him.
‘But I am still at Orlando Pirates and I don’t want to think about that too much.’
‘Pirates is my home and I have been there since the age of 12,’ he added. ‘I don’t know any other club but Pirates. My target is just to train well and hopefully get a chance and if I get it, take it with both hands. I just want to see the club doing its best,’ concluded the youngster.
