Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly begun talks on a new deal for influential centre-back Lorenzo Gordinho.
The 22-year-old has developed into one of the Amakhosi’s most-prized assets under Steve Komphela, with the club now moving to secure his future at Naturena.
Gordinho’s current deal expires in June 2017, opening up the possibility of a shock departure from the club should a contract not be sorted out shortly.
The player’s agent, Mike Makaab, told SoccerLaduma that his player and the club have begun talks but Chiefs refused to confirm this.
‘Lorenzo’s current contract with Kaizer Chiefs does expire at the end of this season, and we have just started talks regarding a potential new deal,’ said Makaab.
Gordinho has slowly worked his way up to a first-team regular since joining the senior squad in February 2014.
