Kaizer Chiefs defender Lorenzo Gordinho says he is relishing the chance to fight for his place in Ernst Middendorp’s starting lineup.
The 26-year-old has been a key figure in the Bloemfontein Celtic side during his one and a half year loan spell at the club, and has played every minute for them in the league and cup fixtures before receiving a red card against AmaZulu last week.
He has managed to feature 14 times for Celtic this campaign, while making a total of 37 appearances in all competitions during his spell with the side from Bloemfontein.
With the likes of Daniel Cardoso, Siyabonga Ngezana, Mario Booysen, Teenage Hadebe and Erick Mathoho all battling for a place in the Amakhosi defence, Gordinho faces stiff competition for a place in Middendorp’s starting lineup.
However, the lanky defender insists that he is ready and up for the challenge.
‘I am ready to go back and fight,’ Gordinho told SoccerLaduma.
‘I want to continue my performances from the previous year when I go back to Chiefs.’
Kaizer Chiefs will now take on Elgeco Plus in the return leg of their Caf Confederation Cup clash on Sunday, with kick-off set for 1pm on Sunday.
