Kaizer Chiefs defender Lorenzo Gordinho insists that Amakhosi will continue to fight in the Absa Premiership in pursuit of a CAF Confederation Cup berth.

The Glamour Boys currently occupy fifth spot on the league table with 47 points and are five points behind Cape Town City, who currently occupy third  – the last slot to qualify for the African competition.

Gordinho has been in stellar form for the Naturena based-outfit this season, with four goals in 27 appearances in all competitions.

The 23-year-old admits that Chiefs will continue to battle for a place in next season’s continental competition.

‘Without the trophies, we are still one of the biggest teams in the country, so we can’t just let ourselves slip and fall [in the remaining three games],’ he told Kickoff.

‘We have to keep going and keep the performances for the fans, they still want to see good football and we’re going to have to give them the brand [of football] that they’ve been enjoying throughout the season.

‘It doesn’t mean now hat we’re not going to win the [league] title that we can just give up. We are still fighting for a place to get into one of the African tournaments, and that’s what we’re gunning for at the moment.’

Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping to bounce back after claiming two draws in their last three consecutive league outings when they take on Polokwane City in the Absa Premiership on Saturday.

The match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium kicks off at 18:00
