Ricardo Goss says he is ready to challenge the likes of Denis Onyango, Kennedy Mweene and Jody February for the No 1 jersey at Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 26-year-old is set to join the Brazilians after agreeing to a deal with Bidvest Wits with the shotstopper still to finalise the duration of his stay.

Sundowns already have Denis Onyango and Kennedy Mweene on their books and signed Jody February in their goalkeeping department, but Goss insists he is ready to fight to become Sundowns’ first-choice goalkeeper.

‘Look, even when I got to Bidvest Wits I was never the No 1 goalkeeper when I got here, so I know [what it means] challenging for the No 1,’ Goss told KickOff.com.

‘Even at Sundowns they have Denis Onyango, they have Kennedy Mweene, they have Jody February. They have quality goalkeepers all around.

‘So you have to learn as much as possible and try to push for that No 1 spot.’

The Chesterville-born shotstopper has kept eight clean sheets from 16 appearances in all competitions for Wits before the season was suspended due to the coronavirus.
