Bidvest Wits goalkeeper Ricardo Goss is excited about his impending move to defending Absa Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 26-year-old has agreed a deal to join the Brazilians but still has to finalise the duration of his stay at the club.
The Chesterville-born shotstopper has managed to keep eight clean sheets from 16 appearances in all competitions for Wits before the season was suspended due to the coronavirus.
Goss says he is looking forward to the opportunity to learn from the Uganda international and Sundowns first-choice goalkeeper Denis Onyango.
‘I am happy to be joining Mamelodi Sundowns. However, I am still negotiating personal terms. Wits have agreed that I join them and I am positive I’ll also agree personal terms before the end of this week,’ Goss told the Sowetan.
‘At this stage, the hiccup is the duration of the contract, that’s the only problem. But I hope we’ll sort it out sometime during the week.
‘Competition is going to be good for me. Obviously, Sundowns have quality goalkeepers. A guy like Onyango can teach me a lot of things. For me, it’s to go there and learn from Denis as much as possible.’
Speaking on the sale of Wits to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM), Goss said: ‘That was the chairperson’s [Alan Fainman] choice not to tell us earlier. Last week he came to us and told us the whole process. We have to forgive him, he’s human. We must move on with our careers.’
