Kaizer Chiefs defender Teenage Hadebe says he is happy to be available for selection as Chiefs look to put an end to their winless streak in a league clash against Free State Stars.

The Zimbabwe defender made his first official appearance for the Amakhosi in the goalless draw against AmaZulu on Wednesday. Hadebe highlighted his relief at returning from his long-term injury, in addition to calling his move to the Naturena based-outfit a dream move.

‘We are ready to face Free State Stars on Saturday night,’ he told the club’s official website.

‘I’m glad to be in the mix and to be available for selection when the coach calls my name.

‘Finally, I made my debut It is a dream come true. I want to thank everyone at Kaizer Chiefs for welcoming me at the club with so much warmth.

‘I want to contribute and with this kind of support, the club will continue to be a winner.”

The 22-year-old defender enjoyed a lively debut and spoke of some his attributes, which include his ability to play from the back.

‘As a player I should have confidence. I thought my first touch was good and this eased me into the game. From there on, I was comfortable because I’m a ball player as well.”

‘I’m happy we kept a clean sheet. That’s what I needed, especially in my first game. It will boost my confidence going forward.”

‘Thanks must go as well to Khune for saving the penalty. We had a good understanding at the back and this bodes well for our defensive prospects going forward.”

‘I’m always prepared to go to the battlefield when called upon. We have so much quality in the squad and we are all ready to do the job at any given time when duty calls.

‘I’ve seen Stars play. We are aware that they have good players and a good coach. However, we have noticed how they play and we are positive that we’ve got all areas covered,’ he concluded.

The two sides clash at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday evening, with kickoff set for 18:00.
