After seemingly flirting with Kaizer Chiefs ahead of the appointment of Gavin Hunt, Benni McCarthy has moved to congratulate the former Bidvest Wits coach saying he will bring smiles back to the faces of the Amakhosi faithful.
The Soweto giants ended media speculation on Thursday when they named the four-time league winning coach as Ernst Middendorp’s successor at Naturena.

Before Hunt’s appointment, McCarthy, who has been without a job since parting ways with Cape Town City in November last year, looked to be flirting with the idea of becoming the new Chiefs boss.
The former Orlando Pirates striker spoke in the media of his support for Chiefs and how he grew up loving the Black and Gold despite going on to play for arch-rivals Pirates.
McCarthy though has moved quickly to congratulate the 56-year-old Hunt, who he believes will bring success back to Naturena.
“Congratulations to coach Gavin Hunt and [Kaizer Chiefs] for the appointment,” commented McCarthy on one of Chiefs’ latest Instagram posts of their new mentor.
“Knowing this man and what he’s about, I have no doubt he’s gonna bring a lot of smiles on the fans faces and most definitely success that’s badly needed. Good luck and all the best Coachy.”
