Chippa United have confirmed the appointment of Serbian international Vladislav Heric as the club’s new head coach.
The 51-year-old joins the club with immediate effect until the end of the campaign with the option of renewing his contract with the Chilli Boys.
Heric was the club’s head coach when the Chilli Boys gained promotion to the Premiership during the 2013-14 season.
Chippa chairman Siviwe Mpengesi believes Heric is the right man for the job, having past experience coaching the likes of Maritzburg United, Black Leopards and Polokwane City.
‘We believe he is the right man for the job. We were looking for a Coach who understands the culture of the club, a coach with experience and someone who will be a father figure to the players, among other things and Mr Heric ticked all boxes,’ Mpengesi told his club’s official website.
‘He won us the promotion back in 2014 with four games to go. An experienced mentor, we welcome him back to the Blue & White of Chippa United.
‘We still believe that we can finish in a respectable position this season, and we will give our best shot in the Nedbank Cup. Mr Heric will be given all the support he needs to take the club forward.’
The Serbian will begin working with the Port Elizabeth-based side as they prepare for their Nedbank Cup away clash to Free State Stars next weekend.
