Bidvest Wits captain Thulani Hlatshwayo has encouraged the masses to practice social distancing by staying indoors during the 21-day nationwide lockdown.
The 2019-20 Absa Premiership season was suspended in March prior to the national lockdown, which was instructed by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The Bafana Bafana international has since sent a message emphasising that the public needs to stand together in the fight to eradicate the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
Speaking to the South African Football Association (Safa), Hlatshwayo said:
‘We are urging everyone to stay at home as we are lockdown and make sure that we follow all the procedures that we need to.
‘Everybody needs to go back to our normal lives, our kids need to go to school and we need to go to work but we can only fight this if we stay at home.’
