Former Orlando Pirates star Thandani Ntshumayelo is making major strides in his bid to get his career back on track according to Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt.

The former SuperSport United midfielder tested positive for cocaine in 2016 while playing for the Soweto giants and was subsequently handed a four-year ban which looked to have effectively ended his football career.

Bibo, as he is known, was handed a lifeline after he successfully appealed his ban – with the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport (Saids) reducing his sentence to two years – which he has already served.

Hunt, who gave the former Bafana Bafana international his top-flight debut while at SuperSport invited the player to train with current team Wits and according to the four-time league winning coach – Bibo is showing positive signs.

‘Thandani is thinner than me now. He is looking very good and he is training everyday and getting fit‚’ Hunt told TimesLive.

‘He’s running and enjoying the game again. I’m happy for him and his attitude is very good that’s the most important thing,’ he added.

The former Black Leopards coach revealed that Bibo was handed an opportunity to run out in the colours of the Clever Boys when the log-leaders took part in a friendly on Tuesday.

‘I’ve got a friendly [on Tuesday] and I’m going to give him a little bit of run but so far I’m very happy with him.

‘You’ve got to give the boy a second chance. Everybody deserves a second chance. We can’t write off people that have made mistakes in life. We all make mistakes,’ he concluded.
