Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has opened up on dealing with troubled playmaker Gaston Sirino, saying that he can’t help him control his temper as he is a football coach and not a psychologist.

The South American forward has got himself into trouble on several occasions since arriving in the country. He is currently in hot water with the Premier Soccer League, with disciplinary hearings under way after the forward slapped SuperSport United captain Dean Furman earlier in the season.

The forward then received a red card on Saturday in the 2-1 Telkom Knockout victory over Golden Arrows in the dying minutes, for a unnecessary tackle in the Arrows box and will serve a two-match ban.

Speaking about Sirino post-game, Mosimane sounded unsure as to how to deal with the forward’s mentality.

‘How do you deal with Danny [Phiri] with yellow cards every day? How do you deal with Willard [Katsande] with yellow cards every day?’ he asked.

‘It’s our lives as coaches, there are those kind of players who you know will always put you in that space all the time, because they can’t control their temper.

‘Remember, I’m a football coach, not a psychologist, to give him all that. It’s emotions, man. I don’t know how to explain it, probably you must ask him.’

The Uruguayan could be set to face a lengthy spell on the sides as the PSL disciplinary committee meets on Wednesday to finalise the charges on the SuperSport United incident.
