Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sammy Seabi says despite his minimal playing time this season, he will show the patience and hard work to ensure his success at Downs.

The midfielder joined the Brazilians at the start of the 2019-20 campaign from Polokwane City but has managed only five appearances across all competitions.

The number of high quality midfielders in the centre of the park at Sundowns is the main reason for Seabi’s lack of playing time with him sitting behind the likes of captain Hlompho Kekana, Andile Jali and Tiyani Mabunda.

Downs coach Pitso Mosimane, though, regards the youngster as a player for the future and Seabi believes he will fulfil his coach’s predictions.

‘One thing about me is that I am a patient person. It hasn’t been so long since I joined the team and I was still fitting in, but so far so good,’ Seabi told the official club website.

Sundowns are, of course, aiming to win a third straight PSL title when the season resumes – they are currently sitting four points behind log-leaders Kaizer Chiefs who have played a game more.

Should the season restart, Mosimane’s charges will have nine games to play in their title defence, with a Nedbank Cup semi-final and possible final also still to be played which Seabi is eager to compete for.

‘I know my time will come very soon. I just need to put more effort. My target now is to help the team fully to reach our goals and to win the league as well as the other cup competitions,’ he added.

Seabi has also enjoyed his experience of competing at the highest level in the Caf Champions League.

‘It was a very good feeling to be part of the team because it was my first time. I had never played [in the] Caf [Champions League] and for me being part of the team was great,’ said Seabi. ‘I appreciate the opportunity [to travel to with the squad] and believe I will help the team to achieve more and more.

‘I must also add that the atmosphere there was super, so it was really a great feeling, I must say, and I can’t wait to feature.’
