Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has talked up the quality of Mosa Lebusa after the defender’s Man of the Match performance against Black Leopards on Wednesday.
The former Ajax Cape Town defender has become one of the mainstays of this Downs team following his arrival at Chloorkop at the start of last season.
After winning the 2018-19 Absa Premiership with Downs, Lebusa has started the current campaign in fine form and has been rewarded with a spot in Bafana Bafana’s squad for the Nelson Mandela Challenge this month.
Speaking to SuperSportTV after the game, Mosimane was quick to praise the defender, saying he is the best left centre back in the country.
‘First, I must congratulate Mosa Lebusa – he had a fantastic season even from last year. We brought him here to win the league and he won the league for us last year. I think he’s the best left-sided centre back we have in the country. I’m yet to see a better left centre back,’ said Mosimane.
‘He’s contesting, I’ve been saying it before he was selected [for the national team]. He can easily match Buhle Mkhwanazi; I’m not saying Buhle is not good, I’m not saying he must not be there. I hope I’m not being [mis]understood. I talk for my players because I don’t talk of emotions, I talk from the performance.
‘If you want to play [defend] long, he’s there. You want to play on the ground he’s there. He’s not erratic. He’s quality. He deserves the Man of the Match,’ concluded the Downs boss.
