A new investor has confirmed conducting talks to save Bloemfontein Celtic and keep the club in the Free State amid interest from TS Galaxy owner Tim Sukazi.

The Galaxy owner has been vocal about his attempts to buy and move Celtic to Mpumalanga, which would ultimately end their 50-year history in the Free State.

Sukazi earlier this week hit out at detractors, saying that if people want the club to stay in the Free State that the province’s investors should step in.

Since then, KwaZulu-Natal businessman Lebo Mokoena has confirmed he is negotiating with owner Max Tshabalala with the intention of acquiring a stake in the cash-strapped PSL club.

‘Yes, it’s true, we are still busy with that. We are hoping to achieve that soon,’ Mokoena told KickOff.com.

‘Obviously we want to save the economy of Free State. They’ve invested a lot in this team and stadium. The people of Bloemfontein can’t lose this club.

‘It’s everybody’s dream. Celtic is huge and it’s been there for over 50 years. For now we are still negotiating. I can’t say as what [laughs].’
