In an exclusive interview with SoccerClub, Cape Town City left back Ebrahim Seedat speaks about training and keeping fit under lockdown, while also opening up about his future plans.

The league has been suspended since March due to Covid-19, with the Citizens occupying 10th place in the league standings with 27 points from 23 matches played so far this season.

However, teams can now return to training and prepare for the resumption of competitive action, after spending the last two months or so keeping fit in home confinement.

‘It has been tough, hey, knowing you can’t play football and going to training is difficult. I have been training with the team on the Zoom app and running on the treadmill trying to keep fit and, of course, eating good as well,’ Seedat told SoccerClub.

The former Bidvest Wits midfielder believes the league should find a way to continue the rest of the season as it affects those fighting for the title as well as clubs trying to avoid relegation.

‘I think the PSL should find a solution and try to let the league continue. I think it’s fair for the teams that are competing for the title and the teams that are trying to stay up and not getting relegated,’ he added.

Speaking about his objectives for next season, Seedat said: ‘Maybe win a trophy with Cape Town City again, yes, of course, there will always be stuff that I have to improve on. Coach Benni [McCarthy] always used to tell me hard work is undefeated – I learned that from him. He made me a better player and I thank him for that.’

Seedat, who has played abroad with Belgium side KSC Lokeren and Swedish outfit Degerfors IF, says he would like to do that again:

‘I would love to go to Europe again – never say never. If an opportunity comes I will go, definitely.’
