Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer admits that although it makes for a nice picture, their current second-place standing on the Absa Premiership log is unlikely to last.

The Sea Robbers picked up their sixth win from seven over the weekend with their 2-1 victory over Chippa United, which has shot them up the table to second place while Downs have been busy with their Caf Champions League duties.

The Buccaneers are now just nine points behind log-leaders Kaizer Chiefs, but the German coach refuses to get carried away due to the games the teams around them still need to play.

Sundowns have two games in hand on Pirates, while Chiefs have one and fifth-placed Bidvest Wits are a massive five games behind Zinnbauer’s men.

‘No 2 is only for a moment, you know. The other teams don’t have the exact same amount of games that we have played,’ said the Pirates coach after his side’s win over Chippa.

‘If they win their games, maybe, then our second spot is done. For me, it’s important that we play the next game very well and in the next chance we have, we get three more points.

‘That’s more important. You know the table better than me perhaps, but at the moment it’s a nice picture but nothing more,’ he concluded.

Pirates will next turn their attention to the Nedbank Cup to welcome Bidvest Wits to Orlando Stadium for their last-32 clash on Sunday, with kick-off set for 3:30pm.
