Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Bhongolethu Jayiya is relishing the chance to help Amakhosi win some much-needed silverware in the 2017-18 season.
The 27-year-old joined Amakhosi from Cape Town City, where he enjoyed a successful campaign, helping them claim the Telkom Knockout Cup and a third-place finish in the Absa Premiership.
The winger managed to find the back of the net six times and created a further two goals from 29 appearances in all competitions during the 2016-17 season.
Jayiya says he is delighted to have featured for Amakhosi, after making his debut against Botswana side Township Rollers during their participation in the Maize Cup last week.
‘It was great to get game time. Especially also after the good pre-season camp we had in Potchefstroom,’ Jayiya told his clubs Official website.
The versatile midfielder says he is looking forward to repaying the club by helping the Glamour Boys end their two-year drought without silverware.
‘I grew up in a Kaizer Chiefs-supporting family. My father, my mother, my grandfather, my sister, everybody supports the Glamour Boys. That’s why it’s so great that I have now joined the club of my dreams,’ he added.
‘I won’t let the supporters down. I know how they feel, because I myself have always been one. I want to help Kaizer Chiefs win trophies.’
Kaizer Chiefs are now set to take on Orlando Pirates in their mouth-watering Carling Black Label Champions Cup, which takes place on 29 July.
