Orlando Pirates captain Happy Jele will reportedly be offered a one-year contract extension with his current deal set to expire in June.

The defender has been an integral part of the Pirates set-up since his arrival in 2006 and played a big role under coach Josef Zinnbauer as well this season. With his contract ending in a couple of months, the club are keen to keep him past his 34th birthday by offering him a one-year extension.

According to Goal.com, the club remain happy with their captain’s contributions and are confident of getting a deal done.

‘Jele will sign soon. The club has offered him a new one-year deal. So, there is no need to worry about his future. He’s not worried as well,’ a source told Goal.

‘Yes, both parties are still negotiating but he has been made aware that he still has a future with the club.

‘There are a few technicalities in the deal that needs to be ironed out but he will eventually sign the contract,’ concluded the source.

Jele has spent almost 14 years at the club, making 324 appearances and the club look keen to hold on to their experienced hardman.
